JOSEPH PITTMAN was born in New York City and raised in Upstate New York, and enjoys researching the varied counties and regions of the Empire State to help make his fiction resonate. He calls his fiction "JourneyMan" stories, as they tend to follow a similar theme of a man pursuing his dreams and seeking out just where in the world he belongs. "Tilting at Windmills," his first novel, was an alternate selection of the Literary Guild, Doubleday Book Club, and Rhapsody Book Club, and is also available in editions in Italian, Finnish, and German. "When the World Was Small" is his personal favorite, calling it "the book I didn't know I could write," but yet did, in a three-month explosion of words. "Legend's End," published just this year, is also available in Italian and Finnish editions.
In 2007, Joseph’s writing took a detour—to the world of crime fiction. It’s not really a detour, since that’s his first love and he always envisioned writing mystery fiction. The new book is called LONDON FROG, and it is available everywhere—it’s even been selected by the Mystery Guild as it’s “Editor’s Choice.” Not bad, huh? LONDON FROG is the first in a new series starring con man (he’s a charming one, so it’s okay) named Todd Gleason. He’s also going to star in subsequent books in the series. In fact, Joseph has just completed CALIFORNIA SCHEMING, and is awaiting word on its fate. While he waits, he’s busy plotting Todd’s next adventure, and is also working on a new "JourneyMan" novel, set in the Adirondack region of New York State, tentatively titled THE SILVER MOON.
